Days of Caring Success 2022!

Over September 22nd, 23rd and 24th Friends hosted six different work parties in conjunction with the United Way “Days of Caring” service event.

These work parties engaged forty-five volunteers from eight different organizations including OCCU, PeaceHealth, PacificSource, U.S. Bank, WorkSource Lane, United Way, Oregon Pacific Bank, and Lane County. This resulted in a contribution of over 135 hours of volunteer labor valued at nearly $3,000!

Groups worked helping to lay down the first gravel on our Trail 3 East project, they helped prepare beds in the nursery for Fall, and they continued our work suppressing invasive species by collecting teasel cones. Our Saturday group even got to harvest apples and English hawthorn pommes to contribute to Wildcraft Ciderworks’ “Pisgah Heritage Cider”.

Large groups like this are vital to giving Friends the capacity to accomplish big, labor-intensive tasks efficiently and in a timely manner. There are always opportunities to give back to Friends in a big way with time and energy.

If you, an affinity group you’re a part of, or your employer would like to set up a special work party event, email our Volunteer and Intern Coordinator directly at volunteer@bufordpark.org!
