Description

The only species in the genus Oemleria, osoberry provides the earliest spring flower display of our deciduous shrubs. Appearing in late February or early March, the drooping clusters of white blooms generally precede the emergence of bright lime green leaves. Osoberry will tolerate a range of soil types and moisture levels as long as the site is well drained and not soggy. This plant is dioecious, which means that male and female flowers are produced on separate plants, because of this only female plants will bear fruit.
