Lomatium bradshawii - Bradshaw's Lomatium

Description

Found in seasonally saturated and valley bottom prairie in the Willamette Valley, Bradshaw's lomatium was listed as an endangered species in 1988 due to habitat loss. After 30 years of protection and intensive efforts it was declared recovered and removed from the endangered species list in March of 2021.

A preference for winter wet areas makes this plant a good choice for a seasonally waterlogged place in your garden in full sun. Delicate dark green lacy foliage is followed by umbels of small bright yellow flowers in late winter to early spring. Once the plants have gone to seed, the foliage will die back completely through summer and early fall drought.
