Description Riverbank lupine is a shrubby perennial with upright whorls of purple and white pea-like flowers in spring. It is often seen in sandy gravelly areas near marshes and streams, but also tolerates well-drained garden soil. Attracts bees and butterflies such as the Painted Lady and Gray Hairstreak.
