Description Foothill sedge, also  know as slender sedge or split-awn sedge, is an open, tufted semi-evergreen clumping sedge with dark green foliage that spreads slowly by short stout rhizomes. Useful as an informal groundcover under shrubs or trees, for a meadow planting or for soil stabilization. Looks particularly good cascading over a rock wall. Unlike many other sedges, it is not a wetland plant and tolerates periods of dryness. Combines well with native perennials including checkermallow, Western buttercup and  shooting stars.
