Cusick's sidalcea, (also known as Cusick's checker mallow) grows from a thick taproot and rhizomes to produce densely clustered spikes of bright pink flowers that turn purple as they fade. Uncommon and found only in Western Oregon in riparian zones and other open and moist habitats where it often grows with rushes and camas. Attracts butterflies. |
