Description Willamette Valley gumweed (gumplant, Puget Sound gumweed) grows in wet meadows and fresh and salt marshlands. The name comes from a gummy, tar-scented exudate on the leaves. Gumweed is an important late-season source of pollen and nectar for native butterflies and bees. Established plants readily self-sow.
