Description

Black-cap raspberry's white arching canes are impressive with their powdery white coating but are not for the faint hearted. Not only is this plant armed with good sized thorns, it re-roots where the canes touch the ground. Great replacement for an edible landscape when eliminating invasive blackberries.  Fruit red, dark purple, or black, sweet and mild-flavored. Crowns are perennial, canes biennial, growing vegetatively one year, flowering and fruiting the second and then dying. Attracts birds and butterflies.
