Aquilegia formosa - red columbine

Red or western columbine is noted for the handsome red and yellow spurred  flowers nodding above an open bush of delicate blue-green foliage. Easy to grow, self-seeds and is great for rain gardens. Attracts hummingbirds. Deer resistant.

Moist, rocky soils, but will grow in dry, nutrient poor soil. Prefers good drainage.
