Sidalcea campestris - Meadow Sidalcea

Meadow sidalcea (meadow checker-mallow, meadow checkerbloom) makes a tall, showy addition to a butterfly meadow or wildflower garden, where it attracts a wide array of native bees, wasps, flies, beetles and butterflies. It works well with wild iris and shooting star, and can be used along bed borders, fences, driveways, roadsides, and hedgerow edges. While not currently threatened or endangered, meadow checker-mallow is now found primarily along roadsides and fences, where spray programs threaten its survival in the wild.

Grows well in heavy clay, adaptable to richer conditions.
